These are the 25 AI coding assistants growing fastest on the web in September 2026, ranked by our growth engine's score (sustained traffic and search-demand growth) among the 44 AI coding sites we track. It covers coding agents, AI code editors, tools for running agents side by side, AI code review and the app builders that write the code for you, and shows which ones developers are flocking to right now rather than which are biggest. We have not tested the tools ourselves, so "best" here means the ones gaining users fastest, not a verdict on code quality. September's traffic comes from weekly SimilarWeb data until the full month is in, so ranks can still move.

How this list is built
- Rank is the site's position among the tools below in the TrendBreakouts growth engine's v6.2 ranking for September 2026 (provisional: the month is not complete yet). The engine scores every tracked website on how fast its SimilarWeb traffic and brand search demand are growing, and pushes spam and other junk down. “Rank, all sites” is the same position among all websites; lower means faster growth.
- Which sites count: An AI coding tool here is a product whose main job is writing, editing or reviewing code with AI: coding agents, AI code editors and IDEs, agent workspaces that run several agents at once, AI code review, and "vibe coding" app builders such as Lovable, Bolt, v0 and Replit, which generate real code you can export. App builders are labelled as such so they are not mistaken for code editors. General-purpose AI agents (Manus, Genspark, Runable) and AI design tools are left out. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot and OpenAI Codex are not listed because they have no website of their own: their traffic is mixed into claude.ai, github.com and chatgpt.com. Each site is checked by hand, and every site left out is listed below with the reason. The type column says what kind of tool it is.
- Monthly growth compares SimilarWeb monthly visits in Aug 2026, the latest complete month, with Jul 2026.
- Took off is the month of the site's latest take-off under the engine's rule: visits reached at least 100,000 a month and three times their level about six months earlier, at a new high, and the next measured month also cleared the 3× bar (a later tenfold jump counts again). - Why are Claude Code, GitHub Copilot and OpenAI Codex not listed?
- This ranking measures websites, and those three have no website of their own: Claude Code lives inside claude.ai and claude.com, Copilot inside github.com and Codex inside chatgpt.com, so their traffic cannot be separated from the rest of those sites. Ranking the parent domains would credit chat or code hosting traffic to a coding tool.
