Best AI Note Takers (2026), Ranked by Monthly Traffic
These are the 20 most visited AI note takers on the web in August 2026, ranked by SimilarWeb monthly visits among the 23 AI note-taking sites we track. Most are meeting note takers that record, transcribe and summarize Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams calls; the list also covers AI voice recorders for in-person conversations, lecture note takers, voice-note apps and AI-first notes apps. Traffic shows which ones people actually use. We have not tested the tools ourselves, so "best" here means most used, not a verdict on note quality or accuracy.

How this list is built
- Rank orders sites by SimilarWeb's estimate of total monthly visits in August 2026, the latest complete month (later months are still provisional and not used). Visits are estimates, comparable across sites but not exact, and app or API use is not counted.
- Which sites count: An AI note taker here is a product whose core job is turning conversations or spoken thoughts into notes with AI. Transcription services for uploaded files (TurboScribe, Transkriptor), general notes apps where AI is one feature (Notion, Evernote, Goodnotes), AI research notebooks (NotebookLM), study tools and sales conversation-intelligence platforms (Gong, Modjo) are left out, as are second domains of a brand already listed. AI notes built into Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams have no website of their own, so their use counts as traffic to those products. Each site is checked by hand, and every site left out is listed below with the reason. The type column says what kind of tool it is.
- Monthly growth compares SimilarWeb monthly visits in Aug 2026, the latest complete month, with Jul 2026.
- Took off is the month of the site's latest take-off under the engine's rule: visits reached at least 100,000 a month and three times their level about six months earlier, at a new high, and the next measured month also cleared the 3× bar (a later tenfold jump counts again). Only take-offs confirmed by Aug 2026 are shown. A dash means no take-off in the data we hold.
- Site profile pages linked from the table use TrendBreakouts' monthly dataset (currently July 2026), which lags the growth engine, so their visit figures can differ from this table. Sites without a profile page are listed without a link.
Left out this month (16 sites)
- turboscribe.ai: AI transcription of uploaded audio and video files, not a note taker (listed on /ai-tools as AI transcription)
- fathom.ai: Fathom's new domain: fathom.video, which now redirects here, still carries most of Fathom's traffic and is listed; the two are not added together
- notebooklm.google: AI research notebook for your own sources (now Gemini Notebook), not a meeting or lecture note taker
- claap.io: sales conversation recorder that turns calls into CRM data, not a general note taker
- goodnotes.com: general note-taking app where AI is one feature; its traffic cannot be split
- evernote.com: general note-taking app where AI is one feature; its traffic cannot be split
- notegpt.io: now a general AI agent for documents, slides and media (its homepage), not a note taker
- modjo.ai: sales conversation intelligence, not a general note taker
- gong.io: revenue intelligence platform for sales teams; call recording is one part
- notion.so: general notes and docs workspace where AI is one feature; its traffic cannot be split

- fellow.ai: Fellow's new domain: fellow.app, which now redirects here, is listed; the two are not added together
Frequently asked questions
- What is the best AI note taker in 2026?
- We rank by use, not by testing note quality: by SimilarWeb monthly visits in August 2026, the most used AI note takers are otter.ai (6M), plaud.ai (6M), tactiq.io (6M), fathom.video (5M) and read.ai (4M). The table lists the top 20. Which one is best for you depends on where you take notes (online meetings, in-person conversations, lectures or your own voice notes), which the type column shows.
- Which AI note takers are growing fastest?
- Among the tools in this list, fellow.app (+10.0%), krisp.ai (+2.2%) and voicenotes.com (+2.1%) grew their visits most from Jul 2026 to Aug 2026. One month of change is noisy; the "Took off" column shows which tools had a sustained surge.
- Why are Notion, NotebookLM and TurboScribe not on the list?
- Notion, Evernote and Goodnotes are general notes apps where AI is one feature, so their traffic would overstate AI note taking. NotebookLM is an AI research notebook for documents you upload rather than a note taker, and TurboScribe and Transkriptor transcribe audio and video files. All of them are named, with the reason, in the list of sites left out.
- How is the traffic measured?
- Visits are SimilarWeb estimates of total monthly visits to each site in August 2026, the latest complete month, so they are comparable across sites but not exact. Use in desktop and mobile apps and in meeting-app integrations is not counted, so app-first note takers look smaller than they are.
- How often is this list updated?
- We aim to refresh it about once a month from the engine's latest data; the date at the top of the page shows the last refresh (2026-10-01). Visits are for August 2026, the latest complete month of SimilarWeb data.
